Another really common question I am often asked is - How often should you get acupuncture? Having weekly acupuncture sessions is a good place to start. If your health issue is particularly severe or acute, you could have sessions twice or three times a week. This depends on what your practitioner recommends and is based on how sensitive you are to acupuncture and how much energy you have in general.
Acupuncture works with your own healing response so if you’re very fatigued, having lots of acupuncture sessions per week could be too much stimulation for what your body can handle at that moment. It would be better to stick to once weekly regular sessions in that case. The most important thing is to stick to regular sessions as much as possible to get the most out of your treatment. We personally would recommend having at least one day between acupuncture sessions for your body to rest.
Once you’ve had a few regular sessions and have seen a noticeable improvement in your condition, you could then have acupuncture fortnightly, monthly, and so on, adjusting the time between sessions if you feel you need more treatment or if you’re doing ok without.
Once an acute or chronic issue is improved, we have many clients who treat themselves to regular monthly or quarterly 'top-up' sessions so that if anything else begins to niggle, it can be seen to before it becomes more of a concern. It's also a great self-care tool to help preserve good physical and mental health.
